Nada há no infinito que não se manifeste no finito... tudo é sendo!

Sou um aficionado de fotografia em toda a sua extensão, mas porque passei a residir numa zona de vasta área natural (rural, florestal, lacustre e marítima), acabei por me dedicar com maior afeição à fotografia da vida na natureza (sobretudo de aves).

Considero que a fotografia não é apenas uma forma de passar o tempo, mas sim um instrumento de reflexão sobre a vida e sobre o mundo (sociedade e natureza) e, simultaneamente, um meio de aperfeiçoamento cívico e estético.

Não procuro fazer a melhor fotografia de sempre, mas tento sempre fazer a minha melhor fotografia. É um combate contra a imperfeição própria sem submissão a qualquer modelo de referência; ainda que tenha elevada admiração por fotógrafos de referência, designadamente por Henry-Cartier Bresson.

Uma excelente fotografia não é necessariamente a obtida pelo melhor equipamento fotográfico, mas sim por alguém que com uma câmara fotográfica tem o talento de “congelar” um momento que passa a ser distinto de tudo quanto se esvai na eternidade.

Agradeço a partilha das vossas imagens e a visita ao meu flickr, tentando corresponder na mesma medida.

I love photography in all its aspects but because I now live in an area where contact with nature is still possible (it’s a rural area, there are woods, lakes and it’s near the sea!), I ended up specializing in nature photography, especially birds.

I think photography is not merely a hobby, it’s also a means of reflecting about life and the world (society and nature) and, at the same time, it’s a way to achieve civic and aesthetic improvement.

I’m not trying to take the best photos of all time but I always do my best to take my best photo. It’s a personal struggle against imperfection itself without submitting to any particular reference, although I do admire photographers who have become references, such as Henry-Cartier Bresson.

A great photo is not necessarily obtained with the most sophisticated equipment. To my mind, it’s obtained by someone with a camera and the talent to “freeze” a moment in time that then becomes different from everything, it’s no longer ephemeral.
