The Ya’axché Conservation Trust is a community-oriented organization located in Belize’s Toledo District, with the primary objective of advancing integrated landscape management for equitable development in southern Belize through sustainable land use management, strategic advocacy and awareness, and by supporting socially innovative and economically viable enterprise.
Founded in 1998, the organization’s principal geographical foci are the Golden Stream Corridor Preserve, a private protected area owned and managed by Ya’axché that encompasses 15,000 acres of rich, natural corridor, and the Bladen Nature Reserve, the largest (100,000 acres) and most diverse nature reserve in Belize. The communities and landscape that surround these protected areas are also of great importance to Ya’axché, which it reaches through its community outreach and education efforts. Ya’axché is committed to the viable health of all of Belize natural resources which it affects through an active advocacy program, both at the local and national governmental levels.
