Photography is a hobby of mine and sometimes a passion.
I loved to shoot kodachrome several years ago. --- Some day, a film and negative scanner will enter my life.
Gradually getting back into photography after hiatus of a couple of decades. -- I need to invest in some decent digital equipment. Currently using a couple of point and shoot cameras. Occasionally I borrow some better digital cameras.
I am developing an appreciation for different art forms. I am trying to develop my photography eye.
Update - Jan 25 2021
I have entered another phase in my life. The pandemic has prompted me into much introspection.
I have had a haphazard history when it comes to photography.
When I was in primary school, I was interested in learning photography, but I could not afford the equipment, film or the processing. My father had an Agfa Billy pocket bellows camera which used 120 film. It had a 6 x 9 aspect ratio. I have this camera now and plan to use it for future photographs.
My father would only take pictures on special occasions and only one or two pictures to record the occasion. Money was tight, and father did not want to waste film by taking frivolous pictures.
When I was about 11 years old, my father gave me a Diana camera with a 6 x 6 aspect ration. I also got a roll of black and white film. It was a cheap plastic camera. My father told me not to waste film taking pictures of nonsense, so the only pictures I took were of my family. I did not take very many pictures with this camera and only used a couple of rolls of film in it. Money was tight.
When I entered the eight grade, I took shop class. In the shop, there was a darkroom with an enlarger, tanks and chemicals. There was also a 35 mm camera and a bulk loader with black and white film in it. I loved shop class and I spent most of my time taking pictures and developing them in the darkroom. I was in heaven.
My classmates and I would take pictures around the school with the shop's 35mm camera, develop the film and then print the pictures using the enlarger and chemicals in the darkroom. It was magic watching the photos appear in the developer bath.
We brought old negatives from home and printed pictures that our parents had forgotten about.
I would like to feel the excitement and pleasure I experienced then as I rediscover photography.
