Ray is one of my oldest Flickr friends, wait, I mean to say is one of my FIRST Flickr friends. A remarkable photographer, he has a unique ability to put you right there in the frame with him. I often feel as though I have stepped into a magical world when I look at his art. If you spend some time browsing through his photostream you'll get it, the work speaks for itself. What you may not otherwise know about Ray is that he is "good people". He always makes time for me. He encourages me, critiques me, answers all my lame questions about exposure and light and asks nothing in return. THAT is why, nearly two years later, Ray is still my friend today. Thanks buddy. He is fearless with his camera, and creative in his technique, so that his photostream is full of variety and inspiration. I mean the "inspiration" quite literally, as I find myself getting excited by some of Ray's work and going out to try one or another of his ideas. Add a penchant for silliness, a respect for the craft, and dedication to his contacts, and I count myself fortunate and enriched for having Ray as a friend.

He seems to have an innate understanding of composition, a sensitive eye and unique technical skills. I have no idea how he creates some of his latest photos, but they are simply stunning. An overused word on FLickr, but I'd have to make up a new one for his inimitable style. Ethereal, yet solid. Otherworldly in feel, yet at the same time, so realistic as to be almost 3D.
