Large, butt ugly, lazy, opinionated to the nth degree, and smart enough to know that those are my better qualities.
Generally speaking I'm friendly, courteous, and chatty.
I've lived long enough to have learned not to revere any of the professions anymore. I do revere writers, good cinematographers, good photographers, and movie directors who know more than just the producer. Oh yes, and actors who can hit their marks (a rapidly diminishing art, by the way).

John Herzog is a very talented and witty man. Rare traits stuffed in such a large frame. His Photography inspires and his stories keep you coming back for more! His work has humanity, a dying and sorely needed art. As for his wit, he once said of me…”the better I get to know David the more I'm convinced that his uniqueness is far enough off the chart that the rest of us are probably wisest not to try to contemplate it.” Very kindly put for what he meant! I regret not getting to work with John when he was a Director of Photography, He would have made me a better Camera Operator. John has much to teach us all about being better Photographers and seeing not just looking. If John offered a class, I would travel anywhere I needed to be part of it. I am honored to call him a friend.
