I've been fascinated by the American Civil War since I was a kid. The first war related park I saw in person was the one on top of Lookout Mountain outside Chattanooga, Tennessee. I was probably nine or ten at the time, and loved that little park. There is much of Civil War history around Chattanooga, and I took to it very quickly.

The next CW park I had the chance to see, a year or two after first visiting Chattanooga, was Shiloh, in western Tennessee. Just as with Lookout Mountain, I fell in love with the park on that first visit. It soon became my favorite battlefield park, and remains so to this day. I currently run a discussion group on the battle and park on Facebook.
