Peter H. "Wolfy" Hanson is one of my oldest and dearest friends, going back to our Freshman year of College together in 1974 at the College of Insurance in New York, and our common sponsoring employer, Johnson & Higgins Inc. Over these past 34 years, each of us has taken a radically-different course through life, and sadly, there was a long period when we lost touch with each other. But since a wonderful reunion in Vancouver, BC in 2003, we've reestablished our friendship, and I truly consider Pete (sorry, I just can't get used to Wolfy, even though I was there when he first earned that monikker (Kansas City, 1977)) as a preeminent member of my extended family. One of the things I only recently discovered about Pete is that he is a superb photographer. His ability to capture the essence and irony of life through his lens is uncanny, and his passion for life and "healthy cynicism" shine through in a way that is absolutely instructive to each of us. These are not merely "cool photos" - these are reminders of how precious life is and how important it is for us to respect and protect all that this amazing planet has to offer. So Pete is not only my friend and my brother - he is also my teacher. I invite each of you to meet Wolfy and get to know this extraordinary man through his photographic works. -Bob Averack, Cheshire, CT, August 22, 2008
