the famous German photographer AUGUST SANDER said, that photography has to focus on documentary; his artworks presented with the cool eyes of a social scientist (or should I better say surgeon) portraits of farmers, soldiers, bakers, butchers, boxers, veterans - view masters-of-fine-art-photography + The Austrian Wolfgang Hermann, a FLICKR member, a retired surgeon, he seems to me like a perfect descendant of AUGUST SANDER! Gottfried Benn, a famous German poet, was a surgeon too. Maybe the capability to climb a certain level of distance makes the perfect photographer? WOLFGANG HERMANN himself told me: "One learns as a surgeon: to observe, to take up information, to concentrate on the really meaning and to separate from insignificant to the well-being of the whole ..."; Indeed, that seem to be good rules for photographers as well!
