From an early age, places and locations always held something of a fascination for me. Being a Wolverhampton lad I became particularly interested in documenting the town and the wider West Midlands region, resulting in various outings armed with a digital camera.

My photo explorations began in 2002 and concentrated on transport subjects like buses, canals and train stations. Back then I had a very basic 1.8 megapixel Fujifilm camera, the photos from which look very grainy now but I'll include them anyway for the sake of posterity.

Over the years I've upgraded my cameras every so often and my focus has shifted slightly away from the transport theme to look more closely at local facilities and landmarks, such as parks, libraries and pubs.

I don't claim to be especially proficient at taking photographs and remain very much a disciple of the 'point and click' philosophy, so any examples of artistic shots or good compositions probably happened by accident! My aim in presenting my photos is to build up a pictorial record of the West Midlands region and to serve as a personal memory bank of the various things I've encountered so please forgive me for being self-indulgent.

I used to present my photos as West Midlands Exploration on Fotopic but now here I am on Flickr. It will take me a while to get all of my archive photos sorted out but I hope you enjoy those that are back online.

Kind regards,

Paul
