I recently bought a new camera (Nikon D3000), and I am learning how to use it. A co-worker of mine (Garry) suggested that I set up an account to display my photos. It's really fun showing off.
Backing up a little bit, this whole journey started with a single photograph of my favorite Phoenix Mercury star taking a jump shot. Even though I had used a compact Fujifinepix camera without a high speed shutter, the picture came out great. I posted it on the Phoenix Mercury site and received good reviews. The photo is displayed prominently in my office.
Even with good reviews, the picture drives me crazy because there is a blurry, halo-like effect around the subject. This motivated me to obtain a camera with a high speed shutter to capture some of my favorite sports moments. I seemed to have found a hobby, in which I can express myself.
Although I have a background in video, specializing in sports broadcasting, there is a certain amount of challenge with still photography. Video portrays a story in many frames in real time whereas still photography tells a full story in one frame.
I'm looking foward to taking a journey into capturing a single moment in time.
