About me.
I'm just a normal guy. Living in Edinburgh, but lived most of my life in Tranent.
If you need to contact me urgently call me on+44 7 515 646 084 (New number as of 2008.)
I joined Flickr in April 2007 when I bought my Fuji S9600. Way back in time I had a Pentax P30N which was great but cost me too much in film and processing. My first proper digital was a Sony DSC-S50 which I had had for about 5 years. It's still going strong although it does live with someone else now having been donated to a friend. Most of my Flickr photos taken until October 2011 were taken on a Canon 30D. I have in November 2011 just bought a Canon 600D as a way into HD video. I imagine most shots from this point forward will be using this camera.
Digital makes things much easier while learning as prints cost nothing and the feedback is instant. This allows me to experiment and get shots I would never try on film so expect to find a lot of "experimental" things in my sets!
I really like this "off camera flash" as taught by www.strobist.com. The results are pretty amazing, and I really want to continue in this direction.
I need to spend more time getting out into the real world taking photos that I can put up here though. I do take many, many photos at events around Edinburgh, but I can't put these in my sets.
I would love any chance to meet up with others in and around Edinburgh to shoot. Would really like to get to work with some model-type shoots. Models can be any ordinary people of any gender, good looking or not! If you want portraits, head shots or anything let me know. Studio access is possible, so if you wanna model... get in touch!
One thing I would really like to ask you though...
Please look around my photos and add some comments on my photos. I'd appreciate any advice or useful criticism on my photography. I might be sitting here thinking "I'm great" (as if!) and I won't know "I'm crap" unless you tell me, so please take 5 minutes out of your life to browse my photos and comment on two or three. Please feel free to leave notes on the photo, but don't make a mess. If the notes on picture start getting messy, I will delete the offending notes and disable the feature again, OK? :) Anyone who does comment usually gets a return visit to their gallery ('cos I'm nosey!) where I will return the privilege.
