Identical twin sisters Brittany and Brianna Winner, better known as The Winner Twins, are giving new meaning to the word “prodigies” with their work in science fiction, through their nonprofit, and their current expansion into TV and film.

The Winner Twins are national bestselling and multiple award-winning science fiction novelists. They have written a total of four science fiction novels, a writing book, and several comic books.

How the twins’ journey began was just as fascinating as the plots of one of their novels. They were born eleven weeks premature, which brought them in and out of hospitals, and close to death, throughout their childhood. During these hard times, Brittany and Brianna developed a love of storytelling. The stories they created together allowed them to escape the harsh reality of the multitude of illnesses they faced.

Observing the twins’ desire to create fantastic stories, their parents introduced them to science fiction and comic books early on, and regularly brought them to local comic book stores and comic conventions.

They had the twins watch Star Trek and Babylon 5, read Isaac Asimov, and access every classic science fiction novel, film, TV show, and comic book they wanted to get their hands on.

This fueled their young imaginations and influenced and intensified their love of storytelling. The worlds they created were filled with advanced technology, epic adventure, robots, cyborgs, mystery, and danger.

In elementary school, the twins faced the harsh reality of their dyslexia, coupled with other learning disabilities, which began to take a toll on their self-confidence and self-esteem. Nonetheless, their father recognized their storytelling ability despite their struggle with reading and writing. He assured them, that if they focused on their strengths, and their passion for storytelling, they could do the impossible… and write a novel.

With his support and encouragement, over a period of nine months, they completed their first novel, The Strand Prophecy, and fell in love with writing science fiction. The twins decided to pursue writing as a profession, then went forth with a manuscript and a dream, clueless of what to do next.

Eventually they decided to submit The Strand Prophecy for several literary awards, and it ended up winning eight of them, including three Benjamin Franklin Awards. The Strand Prophecy became a national bestseller by the time the twins turned thirteen, and could be found in every Barnes and Noble store. This earned them the title of America`s Youngest Multiple Award Winning Novelists.

When they received their first paycheck, they decided to dedicate themselves to helping other young people who faced learning disabilities, and similar obstacles. And so the twins started an inspirational lecture tour through schools, telling the story of how they overcame their learning disabilities, and other challenges, to become successful novelists. Over time they began to incorporate the teaching of their writing method, and to donate technology to the schools they visited. Brittany and Brianna opened their 501c3 nonprofit, Motivate 2 Learn, at age fifteen. That same year they were officially recognized as prodigies by The World Council for Gifted and Talented Children.

The twins have continued to teach and it recently earned them the prestigious “Pinnacle Award” from the international educational organization the Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration. To date, Brittany and Brianna have lectured and taught their creative writing method live in front of over 150,000 students, teachers, professionals, and convention attendees.

At fourteen, they were given their first booth and panel at Comic Con International, and have lectured and exhibited there every year since. So far they have exhibited at over 50 conventions and book festivals including the USC Book Festival, Wonder Con, Stan Lee’s Comikaze, the Virginia Book Festival, and the New York Comic Con.

Brittany and Brianna released their second novel in the Strand series, Extinction’s Embrace, and are completing the trilogy next year with the release of Red Moon Rising. The first book in their new trilogy, PCT: Perfect Compatibility Test, will be released in the summer of 2014. The twins’ novels are currently on the Accelerated Reader program in over 65,000 schools across America. Brittany and Brianna have also contributed to Now Write! Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror, a collection of writing exercises published by Penguin. Other notable contributors include Harlan Ellison, Ramsey Campbell, Piers Anthony, William F. Nolan and Michael Reaves.

Brittany and Brianna frequently contribute to, and are interviewed by, national publications and media. They have been featured in interviews by The Wall Street Journal and AOL, and have been guests on TV networks such as CNN, G4, and ABC. They have been featured on 1337 Lounge Live, Geek Nation, the Young Icons on the CW, Making it in America on HLN, and The Reel Side on HBO. Recently they acted as celebrity presenters at The Geekie Awards in Hollywood, alongside Richard Hatch of Battlestar Galactica fame. They had the honor to be included in Ray Bradbury’s final documentary, and conducted one of his final interviews with him before his passing.

The twins are excited about their expansion into TV and Film, with their newly discovered passion for screen writing. Current slated projects include writing and producing their first feature film PROGENITORS, that will be starring and be produced by Rampage Jackson. The twins produced a parody short film entitled The Star Wars Musical that has had over a hundred thousand views so far.
