Born Mar21. 1939 I developed a long term illness in 1989 so that I am largely housebound and have to pace myself a lot. Activity is always a bit of a struggle. Gardening has kept me sane over the years but since joining flickr it has been wonderful to be able to communicate more with the outside world.

I've always taken photos but it wasn't until digital cameras came along and I joined flickr that it really took hold of me in a big way. It does for me something akin to what painting used to, to do with the training of the eye. My main interest is in composition but my technical knowledge is limited though on rare occasions when I have spare energy I try to improve that.. Flickr enables me to learn from others and to see the world from my home which has brought a new dimension to my life.

Flickr has also made me some good friends through my contacts but I find I'm getting more than I anticipated and I'm inclined to strain myself trying to keep up to date. I want to keep a personal element with my contacts so would prefer not to have any new ones unless there is a very persuasive reason. I am quite happy however for members to have my photos on their sites. Whenever well enough I respond to any one who makes a comment to me by favouring or commenting on one of their photos.

Although I can see tolerably well and looking at pictures isn't a problem for me I have an inflammation problem that also affects my eyes so I can only make limited use of the computer. I lose concentration after reading a paragraph or two and am not able to spend time browsing to learn how to do new things on flickr or computer. I also have flashing lights from my eyes so that flashing or spinning comments are very stressful.
