I have always loved nature, though it didn't begin as love. It began out of necessity, when my alcoholic parents locked me out of the house by saying, "Go outside and play." I spent a LOT of time outside, in fields and trees, observing, and that time has served me well, as a photographer. I dated a guy who was a photographer, and I never touched his camera, nor thought to get one of my own. I just let him have all the fun. When I had my first and only son, I realized I loved photography. And when he got old enough for me to venture away from him, I found myself once again in the woods and fields and open waters.

Since I became acquainted with Lori through Flickr just a few months ago, I have found a kindred spirit and a very precious friend. Lori's photography wonderfully reflects her affinity with and compassion for the wildlife she so tenderly cares for, and this is reciprocated with their trust in her, which is so wonderful and touching to see. Such a precious example of this was Lori pledging her sweater to Greta the Canada Goose and her babies. Her gracious acceptance of this gesture was just so moving... This mutual and beautiful trust affords Lori the opportunities to capture the most perfect and precious moments, which I feel privileged to be able to share. Lori is also an exceptionally talented writer...her poetry and prose is so evocative and heartfelt and often provides the most wonderful accompaniment to her photos. Lori is such an inspirational lady...if ever I am having a bad day I only have to look at her latest upload in order to feel uplifted. She is a wonderful person, and I feel very privileged to be able to consider her one of my very best Flickr friends.
