I started into bird photography in the summer of 2008. I took four years of photography courses in high-school then put it down for over a decade until the quality of affordable digital SLRs became comparable with 35mm SLRs. Both my father and my uncle are avid birder's and I have enjoyed birding with my father over the years when he came to visit. However, I never really got into birding on my own until I started doing bird photography.

My uncle is a great bird/macro photographer and he does beautiful bird carvings too ( check him out, www.flickr.com/photos/egofreed/ ). I always look forward to a bird photography trip with him. Regardless of location we always have fun, learn something new from each other, and it seems like we always see something cool. I joined Flickr to share my photos with other bird and wildlife photographers in hopes of knowledge sharing and honest critiques.

In 2017 I purchased a Canon EOS 1DX MK II, but I also I shoot with a Canon EOS 7D MK II and a EOS 50D. The majority of my pics are with a 500mm F4 IS USM version 1 lens, but in 2017 I purchased a 400mm DO IS II USM lens that I am excited with. I also shoot with some shorter focal length canon telephoto lenses as well.

I hope you enjoy viewing my photos half as much as I have enjoyed taking them. Displayed image quality for my photos are best when viewed through Flickr's slideshow function, then go to the bottom right-hand corner to select fullscreen. Use of my photos without my permission and written consent is prohibited, so please if you wish to use any of my photos for any reason just drop me a line.

When I do have free time I usually spend it with my kids or out taking pictures, so if my presence of Flickr seems erratic or if you don't see any comments from me for a while please don't take any offense. I try my best to get around and look at everyone's photostreams and make comments on the fabulous images I see here on Flickr, but I have many other priorities and responsibilities that come ahead of my Flickr time.

Thanks,

Rob
