It takes quite an effort to lug the photo gear he takes on backpacking trips in order to come back with these breathtaking images. He's a fantastic photographer. I'm eager to take a backpacking adventure with him one of these days. I consider Michael a friend, and from what I've seen his character is even better than his images.

Michael Hansen has been a great friend and photographer since we first met on our 2002 Yosemite, North Dome backpacking trip. Since then, we've hiked and photographed many other places. A few years ago, I started having trouble walking. On one Yosemite day trip, Michael moved his truck closer so I could capture my 'Yosemite Valley Storm', while I was siting in the truck! Michael has been an Inspiration to me and a true friend!
