I live in Belgium, and (like for 60% of the Belgian people), my mother tongue is Dutch. I like to be able to speak and understand multiple languages. (Yet art is a universal language!)

 

  

Since forever, Wim has been captured by strong images, whether visual or in words and thought.

Originally he expressed this sensitivity mostly through writing poetry.

Ever since 2003 he started looking for new ways of delivering and spreading his ideas, which started printing on T-shirts of poems, conceptual messages, thoughts and aforisms.

 

In 2006, through a friend, he discovers the potential of photography, (and also the international interactive website Flickr.com, which delivers an endless source of inspiration). It awakens inside him a new form of sensitivity for strong images.

 

And so Wim starts experimenting with taking photos, quite intuitively, and finds, without any photographic schooling, new ways of expression and capturing of what he sees as extraordinary, intense and inspiring.

 

 

THEMES

Returning themes : looking at the surroundings with an eye for detail, humanity, inner restlessness.

In his pictures, Wim is searching for deepening and reflection, sense in the sensation, special angles, powerful images, and universality.

 

TITLES

Just as with his poetical work, and "word concepts", printed on clothing, Wim usually pays great attention to thought meaning and deeper theme, in choosing his photo titles.

 

EXPOSURE

Wim's art has been shown in various local & regional group exhibitions since 1997, and since 2009 including photos too.

 

In Spring 2009 he exhibited older and new work in the series "Kunst in het gemeentehuis" (Art at the Town Hall) in his town, near Brussels. The regional television channel Ring-TV made a reportage about it.

 

Some photos of Wim have been published on touristical websites (mainly Brussels and the surrounding region Pajottenland), as well as several regional and international (information, news, peace) websites.
