I am an amateur photographer. My wildlife photos are all captured right at the source - in nature - thus no zoo photos. I can do that because I live in South Africa, and do visit game parks frequently. I thus prefer to photograph wild life as closely as possible to the way God intended it to be. (I do not have anything against a zoo though!)
I am lucky to have a partner, friend, wife and supporter Gerda (gerdavs) with whom I enjoy going on photo expeditions. So, this explains why so many of our photos have the same theme!
My daughter Eraine (erainevs), friend and supporter, is also a keen amateur photographer with a very artistic touch.
And then Neill (neillvs), who is in heaven now. My best friend and son. He was a very keen photographer who showed us all how to live your life to the fullest, despite having had leukemia since he was 8. I am sure he now has the best camera and longest lenses..

Willie is my favorite wildlife photographer on Flickr. He is every "Professional" wildlife photographers' nightmare. He consistently meets or exceeds their technical skills, but he captures wildlife doing things that they rarely see, and then he also finds and captures world class photos of rare and hard to find animals that most people can only dream of even ever seeing. This is not a guy who goes on the guided tours to the famous venues and takes the same photos as 1000s of other photographers. Willie finds and captures nature himself.

And a daughter who is a creative photographer and a son who was a best friend and comrade in photography too - what a reunion they will have one day. Read lessIt was in 1995 when I fall in love with South Africa. Since then I visited the country four times. The great thing about Willie and his photostream is, that by coming here it feels a little like being there. He is a great photographer with a passion for South African Wildlife.
