I am an amateur photographer based in Portland, OR. Photography, for me, stems from a love of the natural environment and wanting to share my experiences in the wild with others. I find myself to be most content out in nature, away from the busyness of "regular" life. Time to just be and enjoy the beauty. I am fascinated by the way we perceive this beauty. What is it in us that responds and moves us? I believe it is one of God's ways of revealing Himself to us so that we may not only relish in His creation but also in Himself. My hope with these images is that they will evoke some kind of emotional response similar to what I feel while I'm taking them, and that this response will help to reveal something greater than ourselves.

Photographs will never be able to exactly replicate the "real" scene - real meaning what we perceive while physically being there. Photographs, in and of themselves, are "departures from reality." I strive to capture scenes during unordinary moments when light and form come together to create an image that will hopefully have somewhat of the same power as actually witnessing and experiencing the scene through all of our senses.

All of my images have had limited digital enhancements. The process in the digital darkroom regularly involves adjusting and correcting luminosity, contrasts, color balance, and saturation to better represent the experience of the image.
