ANNOUNCEMENT: Flickr has (like many corporations) gotten GREEDIER and is FORCING me to either PAY for what they were (and still are) able to provide free (to the user) or REMOVING nearly HALF of my photos. I post very few photos (but am a LONG TIME member, so I have accumulated >1000, my new LIMIT), which are well-compressed and use precious LITTLE storage (resources). I understand the need to limit resources to free accounts, but a FAIR way would be by storage / feature limits (PRO users use much more storage space, etc.), or perhaps for new users, but NOT to suddenly limit to 1000 pictures for long-term CONTRIBUTORS regardless of how small they are! Therefore, I apologize to my viewers that I will SOON have to REMOVE nearly half of my pictures over the last decade from Flickr. SHAME on you Flickr! Guess the CEO "needs" more $$$$$$. :(

I am a hobbyist, sometimes contract, photographer (retired computer programmer) who occasionally dabbles in graphic art in rare moments of creativity. I like to keep the two separate in that I generally do not post-process photos with a computer (unless I'm creating graphic art). My philosophy:

$photo + camera_settings() => /* hopefully better */ $photography++;

$photo + (GIMP|Photoshop|ImageMagick, et. al.) => $graphic_art;

I like to shoot all variety of scenes, particularly ones that present a challenge to shoot, but I find myself often drawn toward outdoor landscapes, old downtown city streets, abandoned buildings, flower/insect macros, and b&w.

For the curious, I'm a "Pentaxian" - my cameras are Pentax K-50 & K-x (digital) and Pentax ME-Super (film). If you don't see Exif data, it's film. See my website/blog for more details a/b me. I don't generally post identifying pics. of people on the wild-open web - either of myself (you're not missin' much - but I might sometimes. There's some below I did do of myself) or of others w/o their specific request & permission. I'm just sort of paranoid that way (since once loosed on the web, it's there forever for any creep to do w/what they will)! Please feel free to visit my website/blog where I post random thoughts on photography and everything else.
