We are converting our garage into a workshop, where my partner Jim and I will be framing our best photos and offering them for sale through galleries and other businesses in Greenville.

I love to cook and to photograph some of what I make. In 2009 I made a project of photographing my breakfast every day. On weekends, when I have time, I prepare a special breakfast for me and my partner, Jim. The first half of 2011 I photographed a beverage every day.

I sold my menu and food photography business in 2010 and now do freelance work photographing virtual-tour, 360-degree panoramas of businesses for on-line advertising, using my 8mm fisheye lens.

Until recently I traveled frequently on business, so more than 100 of my breakfasts in 2009 were out of town. Some are motel "continental" breakfasts. Others are in diners. I learned techniques of guerilla food photography. Set up a strobe or sit near a big window, pop open a silver reflector, and grab a satisfying food photo before the breakfast gets cold or the server asks too many questions.

On weekends (after breakfast) I photograph waterfalls, barns, flowers and other stuff outdoors. If you browse my photos, look at the set called "most interesting." to see my range of interests.

I enjoy sharing photos and viewing the photos of other flickr users. I hold the copyright to my photos and they are not to be downloaded, copied or used in any way without my permission.

I like to attend workshops and meetings where I can learn more about photography. Here are some of my recent activities:

"Winter Light," workshop sponsored by The Ansel Adams Gallery, led by Keith Walklet, Yosemite National Park, February 11-15, 2009

Annual Meeting of Carolinas' Nature Photographers Association, (lots of presentations by excellent photographers), Charlotte, March 12-15, 2009

Photoshop World, National Association of Photoshop Professionals, Boston, April 14-17, 2009

Photoshop CS4 for Photographers, Kelbytraining, led by Ben Willmore, Cobb Galleria in Atlanta, April 27, 2009

International Conference on Food Styling & Photography, Boston University, June 12-15

I frequently hang out in the group called Olympus E-system community.

If I selected you as a contact, it is because I admire your work and want to encourage you or learn from you, or both. I am here to learn and to have fun.

Walter is incredibly talented. His excellence in photography is easily seen in his food photos, but it doesn't stop there - his compositional skills also translate over to his nature and "general" (for lack of a better descriptor) photographs. Photography aside, he is clearly a distinguished cook, and his awesome sense of decor is rivaled only by his equally impressive array of dishware. You are also looking at the profile of a genuinely nice person. Walter has a wonderful attitude, and he is quite willing to share his knowledge (which is good, because he knows quite a bit!). This is one of the few photostreams that I regularly browse through with my wife. Keep doing what you're doing, Walter - my cooking abilities will likely never come close to yours, but I'm still regularly inspired by your work all the same.

Walter is a great photographer and also one of the nicest guys in all of flickr. He is passionate about the art of food photography, and if you are not hungry after viewing his stream, then you are obviously a robot that requires no sustinence to continue living! He has an amazing library of knowledge and advice that can give, and is often the voice of reason and tolerance in group discussions in the Olympus E-System group. Every time I see a photo of food appear on my front page, I know it is Walter's, and I am continually amazed at how good he is at making food look amazing.

When I think of food photography, I think of Walter. But even more important than that, I think about a photographer that's always pushing to improve technique, presentation and go that extra distance to make the shot right. I'm a long way geographically from Walter but his work speaks to me as if he were next door.
