About me:
My name is Jessica and I'm a self-taught digital photographer specializing in informal child and family portraiture in Kennesaw, Georgia. Since the birth of my son in 2010, I've followed my passion for photography by practicing on my captive little subject, as well as taking snapshots of our family, friends, and members of our play group. I prefer natural light, outdoor settings, and a "watchful waiting" approach to capturing my subjects, allowing clients to lead me toward activities and settings of their choosing.
About the name:
Little ones (or "whittle" ones, as some children so sweetly pronounce it) can be difficult to capture, not only because they so rarely sit still, but also because they seem to sprint their way out of babyhood. I prefer the small, ordinary, honest moments in the un-staged areas of life, carving out of our accumulated busyness and chaos a simple snapshot that whittles down our complicated lives to a melted ice cream cone, an unexpected tantrum, the automatic comfort of a parent's touch... It is with this in mind, that I turn my camera on my subject, with an eye for the imperfect beauty of a messy life.
