A metamorphosis from Typesetting & Printing to Artist and Printmaker

“My first painting’s inspiration, on canvas early in 2004 was in the paint bottle, I had never painted before, it just flowed”.

Images were crude and had a suggestion of ethnic innocence, as well as being bright. “I planned my first (and other) pictures on my PC”. This provided me with the opportunity to make corrections to composition.

After a short period I “found” a new medium and began painting on palm leaf fronds. They became a point of conversation and are popular with their bold design and interesting shapes and colours.

“Printmaking”… opened new doors for my creativity. I have expanded this direction of my activities and am now producing intaglio etchings in zinc, aluminium and copper as well as photo-light sensitive plates.

I have installed an intaglio press and UV light and vacuum plate burner at home and making good use of same.
