A Locative Robotic Art Project Where's the Chicken

The Project "Where's the Chicken", which focuses on object-based media art and locative media, is presented by the Academy of Visual Arts(AVA) , Hong Kong Baptist University(HKBU) with support from the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. The academy has invited Annie Wan as a Visiting Research Scholar to develop a new locative media art installation and to guide a group of students and local artists to develop artworks for an exhibition in July 2009.
The ultimate goal of "Where's the chicken" is to explore the options for a future media lab and creative hub establishment in Hong Kong. Apart from AVA students, AVA alumni, various students from other disciplines in HKBU, art students from other institutions and establishing video artists/ sound artists/ digital artists will be gathered throughout a number of events in the project, which will last almost a year. This will create a new force for media art development in Hong Kong, comprised with young creative professionals/ artists/ students/ graduate students, moreover through the marketing campaign and locative media art developed from the project, public interest and awareness of the project will be aroused and hence a decent amount of audience on the latest media art development will be reached and grew.
Besides the workshops there will be public lectures which provide in-depth conceptual & theoritical knowledge within the context of contemporary experimental art scene. All lectures are free and the schedule will be announced on our website. Workshop participants, students from computer science, engineering, biology, other media art institutions, media professionals, establishing digital artists are highly encouraged to participate.
「Where's the Chicken」是一項針對物件主導的媒體藝術及定位媒體藝術計劃。本計劃由香港浸會大學視覺藝術院主辦,並獲香港藝術發展局資助。獲邀客座研究學人溫安妮將創作其最新定位媒體裝置藝術作品,更會帶領一班香港本土藝術家及學生進行創作,作品將於二零零九年七月之展覽中展出。
「Where's the Chicken」冀望通過是次計劃為香港未來的媒體實驗室及創意平台作基礎性的準備。本計劃將透過不同的講座、工作坊及展覽,以集結跨學科學生、藝術家及其他藝術專才,為香港新媒體藝術發展帶來一股新動力。此外,本計劃的市場推廣及定位媒體藝術發表將增加公眾對新媒體藝術的興趣,從而令媒體藝術發展得到更廣泛的支持。
除工作坊外,本計劃亦包括內容圍繞當代實驗藝術的講座,以提供更深入的概念及理論知識。所有講座均免費開放予公眾參與,詳情容後公佈,敬請密切留意本計劃之網頁。本院鼓勵工作坊學員、不同學系的學生、媒體專才及媒體藝術家參與,以進一步強化跨領域的藝術交流。
