The pictures on these pages have been put up by staff at the Westcountry Studies Library in Exeter, UK, as part of a concerted campaign to identify some of their mystery picture collections.

Devon County Council's Westcountry Studies Library has a large collection of illustrations, some of which have been donated and gifted without precise details of location and artist - so we have no idea where they are. They may not even be in Devon - after all Devonian photographers and artists do travel and work outside the county!

For the last three years, staff in the library have run a Location? Location? Location? project, asking people to help them identify these mystery pictures. Now you can see the pictures that we are still struggling to solve on these Flickr pages.

And perhaps you have some historic family pictures that you think may be set in Devon? - if that's the case, why don't you add them to the Guest mystery pictures set, and perhaps you'll get some helpful suggestions!

These pictures are all covered by a Creative Commons license which permits copying for attributed non-commercial use.
