My name is Wendell Esperanza, I currently live in Phoenix and I call myself a "photographer" in general, since I am learning more than one type of photography.

As I remember growing up as a young child in the good ole city of Chicago. I started playing with my father’s old film camera without his knowledge. One of the things I loved about it was the sound of the mirror flickering when I took the shot. The clarity of the surroundings through its lens was truly astonishing to me.

But I really didn’t fall in love with photography until I first owned one seven years ago. I lived in Minnesota at that time and saw someone selling my first camera. The previous owner left a roll of black and white film that was unfinished. I took shot after shot until I was finished with the roll. It was the outcome of the pictures of what I took that made me fall in love with photography. Let’s just say it took my breath away for someone that did not have knowledge of how to use one.

After having my first camera, I started studying the literature of photography on my own without going through the contemporary school. Through my learning experience by books and by camera years later, I am still in awe of how photographers in the film era took pictures, where digital imaging and editing software did not exist.

I try to shoot perfectly out of the camera, I know I over expose a bit so I have less photoshop, but that's not where I should be correcting my images. I show my clients immediately after taking a shot so they can see and ask " do you need to reposition anything?".

I’m learning to be that innovative photographer where I take pictures the way I see it through my lens without editing it through software. Pictures should be taken as simple and natural, the way I am living life, which I thank God for.

I live by a quote that I created, “I live life capturing it through the lens”. Life itself is the best experience to have and to see that you cannot avoid.
