I am a techno-geek. In the 90's I tried to get into photography. In the last year or so, thanks to a new job that doesn't demand all of my time and a friend who is a real good photographer, I started to get a bit more serious. I still have a long way to go.

I started back with film since that is what I had already. I originally planned to buy a digital SLR but I have really learned to love film (color film) and the dynamic range it offers. I bought a Rolleiflex Automat RF111A to get myself into medium format and right now, it is my favorite camera. Although I still use my Nikon N6006 for the flexibility in lenses and filters, and I use it as a meter for my Rollei (it is sans meter and I am still too green to trust my own guesses).

My goal is to improve my technique and composition. I try to get the best bang for the buck in camera gear. This is currently:

Nikon F5

Nikon N6006

Nikkor AF 50mm 1.8

Nikkor AI 28mm 2.0

Nikkor AF 80-200mm ED 2.8D

Nikkor AF 18-35mm ED-IF 3.5-4.5D

Rolleiflex Automat RF111a w/ Zeiss Tessar 75mm 3.5

Asahi Pentax 6x7

SMC Pentax Takumar 90mm 2.8

SMC Pentax 67 45mm 4.0

I have started a site to sell my photos at www.excelsusphoto.com. If you see a photo of mine on Flickr that you would like to buy that isn't on excelsusphoto.com, please send me a message and I will look into expediting getting it clean and scanned in high resolution for selling.

After viewing Weldon's work with the Rollei, it was like discovering I had a lost son out there somewhere! He's well on his way to grasping all that the Rollei can do (these cameras are magic). Eventually I predict he'll drop 35mm altogether and stick with the joys of Rolleiflex TLR. There's nothing this camera can't do, and Weldon is one of the few I've seen to grasp this. Once he starts into b&w, there'll be no stopping him. I have no idea of his age, but think I'm old enough to say I'd be proud to call him my son. He's got something you have to be born with....a natural "eye" that sees the finished image. This is ultra rare in these days of d&^#@!l click 2k pics only to pick 1 or 2. Keep up the good work, and remember: If the lens doesn't read "Zeiss", then it just isn't. This is your art. Your perception of a moment in time, which you are preserving and presenting for the world to see & be touched by. What kind of price can you put on that? Rolleijoe
