I am the proud aunt of 11 ranging in age from 22 all the way down to 3. I have been an aunt most of my life, since age 12. There are fewer things that bring me more joy.

Sometimes the little goofballs get in front of the camera for me =)

There are lots of words that pop to mind when thinking about Martha and though it may be disappointing to her, weird just isn't one of them. At the top of the list is FUN! I dare anyone to flip through her photostream and not have fun. She's always a trip - especially with her portraits of friends and family members. But it's not just about fun - she's a talented and creative photographer. Her photos of Lone Lake and her night shots of Minneapolis are like love letters to Minnesota. When I hear someone toss out the term, "local artist" - I think of Martha. She captures the beauty of our state (urban and rural) better than anyone I know. She always brings out the best in her subjects and her surroundings. There's no one I'd prefer to spend a day just shooting pictures with than her.

I met Weird Aunt Martha back in the depression when we were walking across the great divide. She stopped to help me wipe the dust off my Manolo Blahniks and I was so grateful that when we arrived at Deadwood I bought her a whiskey. We've been great friends ever since and I admire her art greatly.
