Whitfield County Schools is a growing district of nearly 13,500 students. The district is comprised of 13 elementary schools, five middle schools, three high schools and two special purpose schools.
The Whitfield County School District was established in 1872. The system began as numerous one-room school houses whose primary purpose was to educate children when they were not needed on the family farm.
The school district is now made up of 13 elementary schools, five middle schools and five high schools. Coahulla Creek High School is under construction in the northeast part of the county. Whitfield County Schools is the twenty-sixth largest of the 180 systems in the state of Georgia.
