Flickr is an amazing community, full of stunning photographs and never ending ideas. Probably the most beautiful shots ever taken are right here in its pool and I am a proud member of such an enthusiastic group.

 

I've always been curious about lenses and was stimulated by my father with his land surveying equipment (e.g. the theodolite and its mighty power) as well as the various cameras he had over the years. Luckly I was allowed to manipulate them and he would always answer my questions.

 

I was also strongly influenced by the works of Theodoro Yarovoff, a Russian photographer who established in south Brazil and became my sister's godfather. At that time photos were black and white or hand painted in the studio by his wife Amelia, a great portrait photographer and his assistant. Their portable cameras, from what I can remember, were TLR (twin-lens reflex) like the Rolleiflex. These people really knew their onions!

 

At home they had beautiful photos all over the house, accompanied by wonderful souveniers and general objects from various places around the world. They were also keen tango dancers. All of that stuck to my mind as art, work, good taste, and the value of unique moments.

 

As for my own photography, I count with two important assistants: my wife and our son. I lost count of how many of my shots had their input, either for being their whole idea or for having themsleves in it, somehow. Love you!
