A sometimes writer ('Second Class Male') and occasional cartoonist ('The Secret Lives of Monks') who enjoys taking messy photographs that nobody else will like.

Loves: Winogrand, Moriyama, Parr, Fan Ho, Depardon, Gilden and photographers aware of space, geometry, tones (whiteness is good) and character.

Hates artistic filters, logos, signed photos, pictures of young women taken with long lenses, pictures of grandkids, pictures of the afflicted, pictures of the homeless and drug-addled, idyllic scenes, sunsets, trains, and that kind of 'street' shot that anybody could take by pointing the camera at a street and pressing the shutter.

Especially hates posed 'street photography'. If you have to ask and put people in the right spot, it's not 'street'. It's portraiture.
