My name is MAYEN ...

I am a mother , a wife, a daughter and a sister more than anything ....

I was born and raised in the Philippines... nun-schooled til high school ... and graduated from UP with a biology degree. Having been semi geeky my whole life, my passions then has always been in the sciences-chemistry, ecology, microbiology ... it paved the way for my career of 11 years. I have been in the US for quite some time now... and this is my second home... I find it quite wonderful that we live in the state where the famous Ace of Cakes is-- because I love that show ! It is my dream to be part of the crew :) Go Baltimore !!!

My background has mainly been on pharmaceutical / nutritional sales, but after having my little boy, my life course happily changed. As I take care of my son, I have discovered this hobby that has awakened something I never knew I had. It is wonderful to know that no one can take this away from me-- so I happily share what I know because once others learn, they too, get something that is uniquely 'just theirs'...

YOUTUBE is responsible for most of the things I learned. I'd say 95% of it came from youtube. So , what I have learned, I try to pass on :) I baked my first cake ever on jan 2008 ... and through the people on youtube, every cake after that became an improvement.

For now, I make cakes for family and friends, people I know... I don't have a shop. I plan to expand what I can do to include making figures and having that more available for others... it would be technically "edible" but would not really be eaten anyway.... . I have gotten inquiries on that many times but i have almost always turned it down for fear of having the items break in transit. But I have recently had success in shipping figures and that got my hopes up.
