Founded in 1873 in the historic Cincinnati neighborhood of Camp Washington, Washington United Church of Christ was originally imagined as a place where recently arrived German immigrants could gather together for worship. Some forty years ago, the mission of Washington United Church of Christ was reimagined. It began with the church’s new designation as that of a “mission” church.
As a mission church, Washington UCC is charged with the providing of critical social services to a community whose families are often lacking in sufficient food, decent housing, and access to those opportunities that provide for honest work or a quality education.
