The Warren Astronomical Society is a non-profit organization of amateur astronomers serving the Detroit Metro area. We meet twice monthly for presentations given by WAS members, by other local amateurs, and occasionally by speakers of national prominence.

The Society emphasizes volunteerism and public outreach. In addition to volunteering for events like the "Astronomy on the Beach" star party at Kensington Metropark, our members are happy to give talks to schools and other groups young and old.

We are lucky to have a number of talented astrophotographers in our ranks and are using Flickr to help share their work with the world.
