I’ve been collecting old recordings of opera and classical music for a long time.

As part of my hobby I refurbish old recordings and study the recording process from its start in the 1800’s.

I also collect memorabilia covering opera singers and classical music – personally regarding items from 1960’s onwards and purchasing early photos, programmes etc.

Part of my interest is also the person behind the artist ~ for example, not just the voice coming from the record but the person themselves. That is why you will see photos of Clara Butt with her family on my photostream [she loved having them taken with the kids] – art can be appreciated more if you can ‘know’ the person creating it.

I love meeting and talking to like minded people – especially those who collect for the love of it rather than the monetary value. Do drop me an Email if you think I might be able to help you with something.

I have and do give talks and love helping others in these fields whenever I can and in this respect I’ve fulfilled requests of museums etc to loan items for display.

I started collecting in the 'junk shop' era and spent many a happy hour wandering and buying - nowadays, a lick of paint, increase the prices by a factor of 'X' and suddenly it's an antique shop[!]
