Born in Germany in 1959, I was drawn to photography at an early age. Fascinated with form and texture and working in the traditional black&white dark room, I discovered pinhole photography and started designing and building my own cameras of various sizes and for different purposes.

My first focus was on landscapes, mostly of Maui's north shore where I have lived for over 22 years. Paia, the capital of Maui's north shore, provided a platform for studying lines, shadows and reflections. My most recent and most abstract work is reflected in the 'Bauhaus' and 'Windows' series. These pictures incorporate movement and stillness, a metaphor for life.

Over the years, pinhole has taught me the art of letting go. Not to expect anything, and to be grateful, for the unexpected. Pinhole teaches me patience , to set aside ego, and simply be and an observer of creation. It rewards me with images that emerge, rther than pictures that are taken. To me pinhole photography is like an abandoned goldmine, to be rediscovered in hope of finding treasures overlooked by time.
