High school librarian by day, folksinger by night. I'm an Orthodox church chanter and choir director, currently taking a break, but hope to get back to it again soon. I'm starting to collect paraliturgical and extra-liturgical music that is sung outside the services of Orthodox parishes. I hope to promote this music in the future. We're half-jokingly calling these "Orthodox Hootenannies." There's a lot of Orthodox folk music being sung, some coming from the old country, some brought in or written by converts. It's pretty exciting.
