Luca Parmitano is a European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut. He flew his first mission, Volare, to the International Space Station In 2013. In July 2019 he will embark on his second mission known as Beyond. During this mission, Luca will carry out numerous scientific experiments in the European Columbus laboratory for the benefit of space and Earth. He will also lead the crew of Expedition 61 as International Space Station Commander.
