My interest in WW2 ships started many years ago when I - as a small boy, perhaps around 10 years of age - received a Revell 1/720 USS Arizona kit as a gift, which was something really exceptional as foreign kits were extremely scarcely available in Czechoslovakia at that time... After a period of buidling 1/72 aircraft kits I switched to 1/700 ships for some time during my military service. After being inactive for many years I then returned back to 1/700 WW2 Pacific Theatre warships few years ago. My focus these days is on building at least one ship per class of direct participants in the epic Battle of Savo Island on August 8-9, 1942.
