Established in 1992, VIVID develops media arts through artist support, production and commissioning programmes. Since 2005, VIVID has been based in a dedicated project space, The Garage, in Birmingham’s Eastside district close to the city centre. The space is designed to accommodate artist production, exhibitions and events.

VIVID produces a public programme that creates opportunities for audiences to investigate the development of media arts through a juxtaposition of historical and contemporary practice. From unsung heroes of the eighties such as electronic art pioneers The Vasulkas, to Turner prize nominee Richard Billingham, VIVID brings to Birmingham a diverse range of rare and new works by legendary live artists, film makers and digital experimenters.
