I have a new blog! Please visit and become my follower!
Anyway.....Welcome to a part of my little world!
I'm a native Houstonian & I've always been an artist. Most of my life, I've worked in the art department for many huge special events; and not so huge tv commercials. I've also worked in the wardrobe department in NYC theater & world tours with celebrity musicians. My last job was teaching art to pre & middle school for 2 years. I've loved all my jobs, a lot of hard labor involved, but so much fun! I graduated from the High School of the Performing & Visual Arts here in Houston, TX as an art major & I'm also a college graduate with a BFA from East Texas State University. I adored school. I try to do as many Art Festivals as I can as well! LOVE THEM!!! My favorite is The First Saturday Art's Festival in the Heights. Fabulous atmosphere, great music and I have made so many fellow artist friends there. The Heights, I believe is definately my turf as it is filled with mostly artists, musicians, creative types, and hip people.
My life, during teaching, kinda drastically changed, due to getting sick & having to be on chemo for 2 years. My illness was cured but the chemo did a number on my health. I can be in dibilitating pain a lot of the time, which makes me have to be on disability because I am not reliable for a steady job as I never know what my body will feel like from day to day. Does this stop me from my art passion? No. It just makes me more determined to produce. I'm just mentioning this about me so yall will know how much love goes into every single piece I make. At times I have to work in bed for comfort & I wear hand braces a lot of the time, so naturally my art is very time consuming, yet I love every minute of it as I watch each character transform from a single piece of wire, little ball of foil, or what have you, into their very own unique whimsical creation & as I illustrate a part of my magical world that lives in my own mind's imagination.
I have a variety of pieces of work to show you so....
I hope yall Enjoy & Smile!
PS. I have also been adding other people's art & other photos I enjoy. Since I am a member of the Texas Team on Etsy, (Etsy Texas Crafters) I joined a mini team here in Houston called (Artisans of Houston). We have meetings and do festivals together. It's a blast meeting so many talented & creative people. I learn so much from them and they are talented in so many areas of art! There are Treasuries on Etsy that we can make if you can grab one and I've been consumed with featuring Houston artists. You will find them here on my Flickr pages! Also on some of the pics you will need to click on the pictures to see more written details & to enlarge the picture as well! All my work is copyrighted and totally handmade by me!
