At an early age I discovered my love of photography while in high school. During these early years in the late 70’s I worked in a custom lab for 3 years. This experience exposed me to numerous old school techniques using 4x5 and 8x10 film and cameras, as well as process techniques such as dye transfer and Cibachrome.

During these early years I won a number of local and state photography contest in both black & white and color formats with images that capture light and shadow in nature. My style of images has continued to cycle and grow throughout the last 20 years. By profession I work in a more artistic three-dimensional media, food. My career had directed me away from photography but I have always returned to it as another creative outlet for my passion.

Now fast forward to 2004 when I rekindled my serious commitment to photography by stepping into the digital world and away from film. I have continued to work using only limited digital cameras to force my creativity to work on capturing images as true to the moment. I focus on a number of genres but primarily I am intrigued with light, shadow, color and form. I will stalk a particular image for months watch light and how it plays at different times of the day or even year, only to shoot and study it to deliver what I see.

Currently I am working on subject matters such as reflective surfaces: glass, buildings, water and using it to show images that are commonly overlooked on a daily basis. I also have focused on capturing the play of shadows in every day settings highlighting what we may miss in our hurried existence.

While capturing images are a key point the final result is seen in his print styles. I have been printing my photos on a multitude of surfaces driven by the images them self. I am using handmade papers, Arches art paper, silk paper, Japanese rice papers as well as typical photographic papers with metallic coatings and reflective surfaces. Vary the paper type with the image separates my images from ordinary snap shots to extraordinary expression of the passion and vision I choose to share with the world.
