The Brazilian jewellery designer maker Virginia Moraes started her career in 1987 in her home city Rio de Janeiro. In the following years she exposed her pieces in Brazil, Cuba, Portugal, Italy. She won prizes in Brazil and gave lessons of jewellery creation. She was the first professional to work with certificated wood in Brazil. In 2000. she graduated in Fine Arts at the Brasília University.

 

One year later she went to England where she stayed for three years doing diverse courses such as filigree, experimental jewelry, bead workshop, glass in jewelry and silversmith. Also in 2001 she won the first place of the prize “Inspired by the V&A Collections”, organized by Victoria & Albert Museum with the ring VM:FM, made with silver and the wood roxinho, inspired by the radios produced during the 30’s and 40’s. In 2003 she got the graduation as Advanced in Jewelry by the Westminster Adult Education College (WAES) in London and organized along with Joiasdobrasil.com the exhibition “Brazilian Jewelry Show – Inspired by Nature, in London and Milan

 

Back in Brazil (Rio de Janeiro) in 2004 Virginia opened her studio, a space dedicated to the production and studying of the contemporary jewelry and design. She is Membership of AJORIO (Rio de Janeiro Jewelers Association)
