Hello, my name is Violeta, I'm 28 years old and I'm a photoholic.

My flirting with photography began when I was just a little girl. My father, who's had a crush with photography for 40yrs, gave my first analog camera and a developing equipment (which I still have). He used to spend hours teaching me about the DOF, the aperture, little tricks, how to develop in b&w, etc. By that time, I was a major stubborn teenager who was not very interested in what her father had to say; so with time, I lost interest and my equipment got dusty. Until…

Christmas 2007. My boyfriend, tired of seeing me get angry and frustrated trying to shoot some fabulous pictures with a little point and shoot camera, gave me my very first Pentax DSLR, which turned out to be a revelation and a revolution in my life. We didn’t know at that time, but from that day on, my boyfriend would have to share me with my other love forever, and believe me, sometimes my “second” love receives more TLC and total devotion than my first flesh and bone love. But that’s quite all right (with me)! :D

Almost 3 years have gone by, and my love, my passion and my dedication to photography have done nothing but grow. Photography has made me laugh but also cry, has made fall in to love and out of it, is what gets me most frustrated in life and what keeps me pushing my own limits, breaking my own boundaries, discovering new and exciting abilities. Photography has saved me in so many ways that I will never be a good enough photographer to call it even.

The discovery of self portrait started by mere chance a sleepless night in Paris. I was playing with my camera on the bed, shooting around & 1 of the pictures turned out to be my “long nights in Paris” picture. The truth & honesty that lied behind that picture captivated me in such a way that I continued doing it.

Today I think that from all my experiences, self portrait, is what has taught me the most about myself, life, and this wonderful thing we call photography.
