Photographic art... that's what I try for in my photography. Unlike some '500lb gorillas' I've known, I admit, though, that art is subjective, and even the most serious of artists will take a 'snapshot' here and there. There's nothing wrong with it.

I do photography for the fun of it, and the relaxation. I create photographic art from those arrangements of shapes in the viewfinder I find pleasing to me in one way or another. If other people like it too, that's all the better.

Film... been there, done that... yeah, medium format film will out resolution any normal digital, and sure large format film will blow away pretty much everything. But hey, like I said, it's for fun. Developing film was never really all that fun after the first few rolls. Enlarging onto paper, that was pretty cool, but again, not what makes photography 'fun' for me. What is fun for me is working with the images, the shapes, the colors. Getting that great feeling you get when you've waited for just the right time and bam, the shutter fires and you got it.

I still shoot like I'm shooting film... sometimes to my dismay. If I were to just mash the shutter button furiously, I'd probably have gotten many more interesting view of fast moving stuff. Remember, though, I said this is also to relax. I like to take my time, think about the shot, set it up, and once I'm happy slowly squeeze the button down. Sure, sometimes I end up missing a shot or two here and there, but usally it works out for the best, and I have a lot less sift through after a day out with the camera!

Why write all that? Cuz... heh, and if you read this far. Thank you.

Happy shooting / art making!
