Hello all my name is John, I live in Mason, Oh. I have been shooting since 1979. I attended Sycamore High School and have Mr. Gregory my first photography teacher to thank for getting me started. I attended Antonelli' Institute of Art and Photography. My first camera was a Chinon but I traded Doug Fish for a Canon AE1. This was the start of my obsession with Canon products.

 

1986 Joined the Navy, spent 4 years traveling the world taking pictures. Purchased a Minolta 7000 Crapped out on me so I purchased a Minolta 9000 Still have all my gear (pack rat)

 

1991 Started a family and put the camera away and started shooting video.

 

2001 I started Iron Horse Photography, Purchased my first DSLR Camera, Kodak Professional DCS520 -Canon Body.

But I spent more time photographing my kids at different sporting events and I was making more money doing that. Iron Horse Photography was a little harsh for the soccer moms, so I became Velocity Photography.

 

2004 Started shooting models for practice for senior portraits, I liked what I was doing and I was good at it. I was freelancing for 3 magazines and different websites. I was getting published and that's what it was all about. I moved into medium format with a Mamiya 645 Pro but I already had my toes in Digital pond and was done with film so I sold it and bought a Canon 10D sold it bought 2 Canon 1D for sports and a 20D for portraits.

 

2005 VP Studio was born had to separate sports from Modeling and Senior Portraits. Picked up a Canon 5D full frame.

 

2008 I start CincyWeddingStudio.com. Picked up Canon 1d Mark II and Canon 50mm 1.2 L

 

2013 I got out of the business and spent more time using my Iphone.

 

2020 still have everything in my bag except my Nikon D200, I picked this up about 2012, thought I make the change to Nikon, Never made the plunge so I was proud to pass this down to my daughter who wants to pick up where I left off. I was let go from my Main Job 6/6/2020 and got bored sitting around during the pandemic. So I broke out my old gear and bought some new batteries and have been snapping again. I am not sure where this will lead me stay tuned for further updates..

 

I also pick up some new gear, I have a Sony Alpha A6300 and Sony 18-135 mm. Liking the new Mirror less system.
