I see photography as a way of sharing a vision with people. It is an opportunity to reveal aspects of the world that might otherwise be overlooked or under-appreciated.

My favorite areas of photography are nature-related: birds and insect macros. I also enjoy landscapes, portraiture, street, and night photography. With such diverse interests, my photostream becomes inconsistent at times.

Flickr is a wonderful resource for inspiration and seeing what's possible with various photographic equipment and editing techniques. I've learned a lot from viewing others' works and discussing it with them, and like to give back to the community. I'm always happy to discuss how a certain shot was made and processed, or my experiences with the equipment used.

Thanks for taking the time to read over my profile. Enjoy the photos!

My History with Photography

My first dedicated, non-disposable camera was my cellphone. I'd never been one for photography, but I found myself taking photos of all sorts of things. I won a point-and-shoot camera from a raffle (sponsored by Lockheed Martin - thank you!) and used that for a few years. Eventually, the camera felt too limiting; I wanted to take photos that the camera wasn't capable of. At the end of 2007, I moved on to DSLRs for the greater control and versatility that they afforded.
