This flickr account is dedicated to all the old photos in the Smith family library. Angela is scanning all the pictures in and bringing them back to their original state.

 

For family:

Flickr is quite easy to move around but here is a quick guide:

 

Once you are viewing the main photostream page (Main Page) you’ll be in the folder (called a set) with all of the pictures that have been uploaded to this flickr account. To navigate away from the main photostream set (remember a set is like a folder), click on one of the subsets to the right.

Once you are in a set you’ll be able to search for pretty much anything you want.

For example if you are in the Reid set and you want to find all the pictures of Reid and Virginia, all you have to do is type in their names in the search bar, and it’ll find all images with those words as tags on the photo(s). Angela will be setting up all the tags.

Flickr uses a system for their photos much like all other photo organization systems -- with tags. A tag is a way to label a photo, or things inside a photo for easy referencing/searching. For example if you want to find a picture with an orange cat and a border collie then you would type in: Orange Cat, Border Collie (or any way you want to search it up) and the search engine would look through the tags, and descriptions to find the correct images.

The way you search on flickr can be narrowed down to search through tags only, or broadened to search through all tests associated with a photo. Just as with other search engines you can always make your search broader or tighten it up for a more controlled result using some of the search options presented to you upon using the search bar.

Icons are a very nifty part of Flickr, they make photo sharing and viewing much more interactive and versatile. There are a number of icons visible to the owner of the flickr account -- this picture (below) only covers the icons that you (the viewer) might encounter. Please review the picture in it’s largest setting so that you can read what each icon is all about!
