I joined Flickr in 2009 as a holding place for my photos. I basically uploaded all of the photos I was currently taking and then scanned older photos and slides to preserve them digitally. I wanted a place to preserve photos for future generations - my grandchildren to see who their ancestors were. I was not aware of the social aspects of Flickr. I had no contacts and Flickr was a solitary pursuit for me.

Lale in 2014 I started enjoying Flickr for the social connections that I was building with fellow photographers. It gives me great pleasure to view photos taken by people throughout the world. There are some talented people out there who display the fantastic images that they take. I really enjoying viewing the photo work of others on Flickr and conversing with them regarding their photos. I enjoy reading the comments left by others on the images that I take.

I try to get out and about with nature and take some photos as much as possible. My favorite way to do it is either on a cruise ship, or on my bicycle. If I am on a cruise I try to find a remote spot on an island I am visiting to get some shots. If I am my bicycle, I like to ride off into the wilderness somewhere and try to find a snake or some birds and take some photos.

I am trying to learn all of the time while taking photos. I am amazed at the quality of the images that I see on Flickr. I try to learn from those images that I see. I also appreciate it when my fellow photographers offer me tips.

Most of my images on Flickr have not been altered in any way and are straight from the camera. I own some photo editing software, but never seem to have the time to invest into learning how to really use them well.

I still have boxes and boxes of old photos and slides in my house that I need to scan and digitally preserve on Flickr. Most of the slides were taken by my father with his Pentax camera in the 1950's, 1060's, 1970's and 1980's.

Most of my camera gear are Nikon cameras with various lenses. I do use Nikon lenses, but also own third party lenses from Tokina, Sigma, and Tamron. I own a few bridge cameras from Panasonic and I enjoy uisng those for the massive variability in the lens range that these bridge cameras offer. I also have one of the Olympus tough cameras that I mainy use underwater.

Enjoy and please pass along any comments.

Thanks for looking!
