Vagabond Working Jack Russell Terriers
A collection of photos of our dogs taken over the years (beginning in 1990)... most of them Jack Russells, with a few notably larger exceptions in there as well.
Since we were active in the world of showing, many of these pictures are full body, "posed" shots... ones that presented our terriers at their physical best (and were often used for things such as ads/breeders directories and on our website). I'm also including candids though, as well as pictures sent by our puppy buyers, etc., so there is a wide variety to peruse. Most are grouped into "sets" named for each of our dogs, with other sets created for multiple dogs, offspring/progeny, relatives, and those we've lost.
For every set, I've written information starting with the vital stats (lineage, age) and including the most notable accomplishments of each dog, followed by blurbs that I hope will help you to get to know each of the "vagabonds" that have found their places in our home and hearts.
In no way should this site be considered one that is advertising our kennel though. We have no breeding females, no males standing at stud, nor puppies to sell. This is simply a photographic trip down memory lane and, more than anything, a tribute to the dogs we love and have loved.
Wayne and I began our lives with Jack Russells in 1990 with Kelsey being our first. She was an amazing little dog - in many ways she will always be remembered as our best - and introduced us to the world of terrier trialing, breeding, hunting, playing and living with Jack Russells. Once Tucker and Ducky joined the household, we became breeders and jumped in with both feet.
Copper being diagnosed in 1998 with PLL (primary lens luxation) took the wind out of our sails and we slowed down dramatically... eliminating the show ring and its pressures and trends from our activities by 2001 and we cut down dramatically on breeding litters (only producing 1 since 2001). With Tumble being spayed in October '07 without ever having been bred, we have reached the end of our line--literally.
And so I give you this work-in-progress. I'm not sure if this is an exercise in self-importance or self-flagellation but whatever the case, I hope you enjoy some of the memories this site might evoke or perhaps you'll just enjoy meeting the wonderful and gorgeous dogs that have touched our lives over the years and those that still do.
Yours in sport,
Marla
